Logic Destroys Passion

I sat across from a gentleman today who is an awesome guy. He is caring and genuine, and he connects with people. He has been in the real estate game for a couple of years, and he sat down with me to see if I could help him grow his business.

His story was like so many others. There is not enough business coming in to justify the cost going out. Better said he needed to sell more houses. We talked about his business and figured out he didn’t have a sales problem he has a logic problem.

What I mean by logic (which is something I love) his problem was he thought a lot and did a little. Thinking, he needed more business but not taking enough action is putting him out of business.

He was running his real estate business like a part-time job. Half-assing it in hopes that it would grow by osmosis. Now truth be told he didn’t see himself as half-assing it, he thought he was working. But as we dove into it, it was pretty telling he wasn’t giving his all.

The little things he should be doing he wasn’t. They were impacting his business significantly. He has a great contact list of friends, but only 50% know what he does. He has gone to events and met people and never followed up. His social game was lacking he has a great base but not interaction. He wasn’t taking risks and was playing it safe. All of these things he acknowledged when we spoke.

Here is how we discovered it. I asked him to become his own sales manager and ask himself what would his sales manager tell him to do. His response. “Get off your ass and get out there.”

When you don’t look at our job as a business, then you only think you are working.

His thoughts were that he was intruding on people asking them out for a cup of coffee. His thoughts were that he would be seen as a sales guy if he got out there. But what we found is he has a real passion for people and has a very cool niche of people in which he can connect.

His self prescribe prescription was to do more and hold himself accountable for going big and loud. He walked away from our conversation with a mission and a gameplan and a new sense of badassery.

So let me help you out. You are a badass. Stop thinking and start doing. Action drives your attitude and courage creates confidence. If you take action, then motivation will step in and take care of the rest.
