How Logic Destroys Passion

Logic Destroys Passion

Logic Destroys Passion

I sat across from a gentleman today who is an awesome guy. He is caring and genuine, and he connects with people. He has been in the real estate game for a couple of years, and he sat down with me to see if I could help him grow his business.

His story was like so many others. There is not enough business coming in to justify the cost going out. Better said he needed to sell more houses. We talked about his business and figured out he didn’t have a sales problem he has a logic problem.

What I mean by logic (which is something I love) his problem was he thought a lot and did a little. Thinking, he needed more business but not taking enough action is putting him out of business.

He was running his real estate business like a part-time job. Half-assing it in hopes that it would grow by osmosis. Now truth be told he didn’t see himself as half-assing it, he thought he was working. But as we dove into it, it was pretty telling he wasn’t giving his all.

The little things he should be doing he wasn’t. They were impacting his business significantly. He has a great contact list of friends, but only 50% know what he does. He has gone to events and met people and never followed up. His social game was lacking he has a great base but not interaction. He wasn’t taking risks and was playing it safe. All of these things he acknowledged when we spoke.

Here is how we discovered it. I asked him to become his own sales manager and ask himself what would his sales manager tell him to do. His response. “Get off your ass and get out there.”

When you don’t look at our job as a business, then you only think you are working.

His thoughts were that he was intruding on people asking them out for a cup of coffee. His thoughts were that he would be seen as a sales guy if he got out there. But what we found is he has a real passion for people and has a very cool niche of people in which he can connect.

His self prescribe prescription was to do more and hold himself accountable for going big and loud. He walked away from our conversation with a mission and a gameplan and a new sense of badassery.

So let me help you out. You are a badass. Stop thinking and start doing. Action drives your attitude and courage creates confidence. If you take action, then motivation will step in and take care of the rest.

You got this, and I am excited to see how far you.

3 Ways to Play Offense in Life — Instead of Defaulting to Defense.

Play Offense in Life vs. Defense

Play Offense in Life vs. Defense

One of the things I am learning in my business of coaching badasses is how to play offense. Changing my thought process of playing to win instead of playing not to lose. As an employee in my career, I always had the mindset of how to keep my money vs. how do I get the money.

Playing on offense is not a natural tactic for many people. Primarily if you were brought up in a household, that thrived in the paycheck to paycheck mentality. In our house it was always we will find a way vs. let’s create a method and never have to do this again. We played defense robbing Peter to pay Paul. Paying this bill waiting to hold off the collection calls until the next payday.

How do you play offense, when your entire life had, a defensive mindset. Here are three things that have worked for me.

First get a routine. A routine you do every day that is non-negotiable. Write articles, get on social media (post not read) and get out and meet people. I am still working on how to finish the day right so if you have suggestions for that I would love to hear them

2nd change your circle. Look at the people you hang out with and see if they are the growing as fast as you are. Are they inspiring you to kick more ass? Do you talk about money, investing, creating new companies? Are you discussing the latest trends and where the economy is going? If your circle is not pushing you, then it is hard to play offense, so you default to defense.

3rd get journaling. I am serious get a daily journal going that helps you step up your day and sets you up for an offensive strategy. Ask the question daily how can I play offense today? How do I go big and loud? Need help Journaling check out my free eBook “That’s not How you Journal Jackass.

The best offense beats the best defense every time. Mainly due to the fact of different mindsets. Stop worrying about how do you stop the bleeding in your income. Start thinking about creating a river of revenue.

Instead of how do I pay my bills. Think how can I produce more cash. What can I sell, how do I make this into a revenue stream?

Start playing offense like your in the final game of your career. We are all are playing the only game we get, and if you go on offense, then you got a real shot at winning this thing.

What are you Listening Too?

Feed Your Mind

Feed Your Mind

Throughout my life, I have had a lot of windshield time. Driving to appointments, going on vacations or running errands. Most of the time I am feeding my mind with knowledge. It could be listening to a Youtube video, an audio book or having an enlightening conversation on the phone. What I find for me is that I get to choose what to listen too. Which sometimes means it is my thoughts that keep me company.

With this windshield time, the badasses of the day influence me. They inspired me to keep pushing farther and harder. They ride with me during the good days and the tough days and make every day easier. I talk all the time about feeding your mind, and the rest will follow, and this is precisely what I am talking about.

Life is a series stories we live then tell or teach later. What makes them spectacular is how we lived them the first time.

If you want to make sure your feeding you mind then change what you listen too. You might discover your destiny along the way and chase after your dreams.

Without a Dream

AirplaneDream.jpg

Yesterday I sat with a 22 year old guy that is still finding his way. He was part of a team installing Christmas lights on my farmhouse. At some point, after asking what I did for a living (Coaching Badasses), he was starting asking the big life questions. He wanted advice on what he should do, where he should go and how does he figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.

I was proud that he was asking the questions not enough people do. His entire life he said he had not had to bust his ass and get after it. He went to college and graduated, and his current job was hanging Christmas lights. Not his idea of living the dream.

He wants to fly cargo jets, and he thought it would be the best career. He had spoken to a couple of Air Force guys and was trying to figure out how to get a pilot’s licenses.

I asked him how much time he had spent at two local airports that hobbyist pilots used all the time. He said he had not been to them. Asking him why not he told me the thought had simply not crossed his mind.

When people do not have a real dream, they think about all the time their vision of themselves become fuzzy. They tend to look for a hustle versus a career.

If you have a dream, then get it in immerse yourself in it. We talked about going to these airfields and meeting people in the hangers and getting to know them. Offer to work for free to be in their world. He could even get a job at the diner on one of the airstrips.

Even if the dream is a small glimmer of an idea getting into the world, would quickly help him find out if it is a good fit or not. He can find out if that dream becomes a passion or not. Either way, he will learn some new tangible skills that will follow him for the rest of his journey.

His most significant take away was to pull his head out of his ass or better yet off the screen and get to work. He spends his hours listening or watching all the big names and diving into their stuff. Guys like Gary V., Grant Cardone, and Frank Kern. He was spending his time devouring their shit vs. actually doing something with it.

Here is what he sent me later that night.

“I need to stop googling stuff all day and just get my ass around people that I want to be like!”

That is it! If you have a dream go after your dream if you have a hint dive into it, a see what turns up. If you do not have a hint do something you have not done to help you figure it out.

I hope this helps you find your dream and your passion. Trust me it is in there get to work on you and see what turns up.

How Do You Kick Ass Today

Fight.jpg

This question is what I asked a client yesterday that runs a video production company where he specializes is nature documentaries. He was struggling with going to a 3-day conference where most of the attendees would be his ideal customer. He wrestled with the idea because he was thinking too small. Instead of feeling like a badass he was thinking about survival.

In this day in age, you cannot have a survival mindset; you must be the aggressor and go after life. Play offensively and not defensively. You have to make shit happen and not wait for it to come to you.

I asked him how does he kick ass and go big as hell? He said to go to the conference. Awesome now how do you pay for it? He said I could pay for it now or wait for business to come in then pay for it.

All I said was how do you go big as hell right now? He said pay for it now. How do you find the money after you have spent it to replenish your funds I asked?

We then spent the next 10 minutes brainstorming high vibe, high energy ways to go big. We talked about guerilla tactics like going to his favorite restaurant and creating a quick documentary about the restaurant. Grabbing the manager or owner telling them you are filming a documentary and get them on film. Edit the crap out the video posting it to Facebook and tagging everyone in the video.

We talked about going to events where his key target clients are and taking his camera. Then walk up to his target ask for an interview and turn it into a blog and vlog post tagging that individual and anyone else he met at the event.

To kick ass today, you have to stop thinking small. Think about the most audacious crazy thing you can do to go big as hell and get seen. Being a badass is about not giving a damn what other people think and doing the things that scare you.

You got this I have faith in you. I see that inner badass trying to come out. Rip off the duct tape wrapped around your spirit and Run Like Hell.
